How to Sign Out Items from St Anne's Lending Library

The library houses books for those new to Orthodox Christianity, books on the lives of saint and clergy, and other books of a more general interest.  We also have audio and video compact discs and cassette tapes for sign out, as well as Orthodox journals.

Finding the item you want
Besides just seeing the book or tape you'd like to sign out on the shelves, you can search the two listings in the back of each binder.  One is by author, the other by title.  For your convenience, here is a link to a PDF format version of the by title listing or by author listing, both as of March 2005.  You can also read in these two listings what other parish members thought of the item and the average number of crosses previous readers have rated the source (+= poor to +++++=must read).

Signing out lending library items
Once you have the book or tape in hand, you can find its sign out page in the 3-ringed binder.  The shelf content you pull the item from will match the tab in the binder.

Each item available for loan has its own page in the binder.  The sign out sheets are alphabetical by title, with each of the sections separated by labeled shelf content.    Find the sign out page for your item by looking at the first primary word of the title ("A" and "The," for examples, don't usually count for alphabetizing purposes when they start a title) then noting the shelf you found it on.  Use the next available blank line to indicate your contact information (in case someone ask about the item while you have it), the date you are signing out the item, and when you expect to be finished with/return it.  If you aren't sure, just leave this box blank until you do return the item; then write in that date.

We have no set number of weeks for sign outs.  If someone else would like the item you have out, that person or Ryan Shelton will contact you about a return date.

Returning items
Please make returns to the red basket.  If you would like to give a rating or review for future readers/viewers, write your comments and rating on the sign out page so Jeff Romanczuk can add them to the database.

donating items
If you would like to give an item to the lending library, for example a book you bought from our bookstore and think should be available for others to read, just put it in the red return basket.  Either put a note on it saying it is a donation, or tell Jeff.

questions
Ryan Shelton is available by e-mail or at church if you have any questions about the lending library.
